Nelson Confirmed as the First Black Woman to Serve as a Federal Judge in Oregon

On Wednesday, former Oregon Supreme Court Justice Adrienne Nelson was confirmed to be the first Black woman to serve the U.S. District Court of Oregon, 52-46. Nelson has previously served as a Circuit Court Judge in Multnomah County. Her departure from the Oregon Supreme Court enables Governor Kotek to make her first Supreme Court appointment.
