"Growing up on a small farm between Dallas and Fall Creek and being active in the Future Farmers of America, was good training for Albany attorney David Delsman, who last week was appointed to the Linn County Circuit Court by Gov. John Kitzhaber.
Delsman, 53, said FFA gave him his first lessons in parliamentary procedure and public speaking. He also raised and showed pigs.
He succeeds James C. Egan, who in November was elected to the Oregon Court of Appeals.
Delsman will be sworn in Friday, and his first day on the bench will be April 1. An investiture ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 12, in courtroom 1."
