Reminder: Know Your Rights Event

*Closed Event* Don't forget to register for tomorrow's Know Your Rights event! And please remember to follow best practices to protect your own and your community's health.

Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM PDT

The Reynolds Law Firm, PC is hosting a Know Your Rights training to help you know your rights when interacting with law enforcement, whether during a stop by police or at a public demonstration (with a focus on direct actions where there is the potential for conflict between the public or activists and law enforcement). Whether you are new to activism or a lifelong activist concerned about recent law enforcement responses to nationwide protest movements, our goal is to instill activists with the confidence to make decisions about how they will engage their activism—where is the line drawn between legal and potentially illegal protesting? What “magic words” should you say to police to invoke your rights? Armed with knowledge, activists and others can make informed choices regarding their interactions with government agents and can best protect their rights should they end up in handcuffs and in the legal system. The program will include advice on public health best practices as activists navigate the new dynamic of public participation during a nationwide pandemic.

This event is free and open to the public, including mature teens, but registration is required via Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/know-your-rights-protesting-during-a-pandemic-tickets-109053867052) and spots are limited. This is intentional so we can answer questions and engage in dialogue within a comfortable community space, despite the program being online. This training is offered primarily as a service to Linn and Benton County residents and outlying areas, including students and residents who may participate in actions in Oregon's larger metro areas.

Once you register, you will be emailed a Zoom link before the program begins.
