A strong storm has hit northern California, Oregon, and Washington. Strong rain and winds are predicted to continue sweeping through the regions through Friday.
If you are in the storms path, it is recommended by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to sign up for emergency alerts by local agencies, for Oregon this is via https://oralert.gov/. Additionally, FEMA recommends to stay off roads if at all possible, limit time outside, stay off of bridges, and follow local agencies instructions if recommended to evacuate.
Seattle and Bellevue have had downed trees all over the cities, and many are reported to be without power in all over Oregon, Washington, and northern California.
The weather event is called a "bomb cyclone" because it refers to a rapid intensification of a cyclone, which is when a large air mass that rotates around a strong center of low atmospheric pressure, accompanied by rains.
